Online Specialist Tutoring - From £50 per session

I provide 1-1 specialist literacy tutoring for children who are struggling to gain basic literacy skills. This is generally suitable for children aged 6-12, although older children may benefit if they are struggling with basic skills. A ‘diagnosis’ is not needed although an assessment report can be helpful. I work using ‘Miro’ - which provides an online whiteboard and video link for games and activities. The programme delivered is specific to each child and their needs.

  • Programme developed to meet individual learning needs

  • Multisensory approach to teaching and learning

  • Suitable for children learning English as an additional language

  • Further specialism in working with children who have additional learning differences such as ADHD, ASD etc alongside literacy difficulties.

My Approach

Most children who I support have a difficult relationship with literacy. They are often the children who avoid reading or writing. I take a play-based approach, and with children who are avoidant we do activities that don’t look anything like ‘literacy’ as they know it; sorting games, races, listening activities…we slowly work up to more ‘traditional’ literacy. I also work to support self-esteem and boost confidence for children, working at their speed and ensuring they have a sense of success.

Review for Face-to-Face Teaching

Review: Since our five year old son started lessons with Alice his reading skills and confidence have improved immensely. Not only this, but he is actively enjoying reading again, which had previously become a chore for him due to his struggles. Alice provides resources that cater to his interests which keep him engaged throughout. He enjoys lessons to the point that he has asked us whether he can go to see Alice for the day rather than going to school! Alice also provides detailed written feedback on his progress at suitable intervals, which is very helpful as it keeps both parents informed even when both cannot attend. I really cannot recommend or thank Alice enough. If you are thinking of getting your child extra tuition do not hesitate to choose her.

Our son said: “Alice is really great. I quad-trillion times love it. I like it better than school.”

Review for on-line teaching, advice and support, dyslexic logic programme and dyslexic logic resources

Review: This program is amazing. We have been working with an extremely dyslexic child, but with no defined resources for skill development. Dyslexic Logic changed that! Alice Frendo’s guidance and modeling have moved our student in the direction of being a reader! What Annie Sullivan was to Helen Keller, Alice Frendo is to this reluctant reader. We think of her as a miracle worker. One of the most powerful pieces of the program is “sound buttoning”. Our student is showing signs of internalizing sound buttoning, which will eventually make him an independent reader. Incredible!

Review for on-line teaching, dyslexic logic resources, dyslexic logic programme and advice and support

Review: Alice is an amazing asset to our family. My 11-year old looks forward to seeing her for virtual sessions (we live in the U.S) on a bi-weekly basis because she has a way of keeping each session fun and educational, with positive feedback. My son has learned so much and has become more confident with spelling and reading. Alice is the best!
